Interview with Dave Lackie

Hello beautiful ladies! Here is a special treat for you.
I had the opportunity to Interview the best beauty God editor there is!!
From top make-up brands to sweet shop fragrances
He is our number one choice for beauty advice.
Dave is a beauty editor, also a journalist in which he has interviewed a few rather famous faces, travelled the world, appeared on beauty channels for us to get our hands on the best products going!!

1- you're the editor in chief & founder of Beauty the Guide online magazine, how long does it take to put the magazine together?

We work about five months in advance when creating an issue of the magazine. Even though it is digital, we still have the same approach and design as a print magazine. The fact that we translate it into French adds an extra month into the process. We’re always looking for a new twist on telling a story. And much of that comes down to a lot of research. You can find really great ideas if you really spend time learning about a product or brand.

2-what are your favourite products? (Men&women)

I have so many favourite products. I think philosophy’s purity cleanser is one of my all-time favourite products for men and women. It’s very gentle but cleans thoroughly. I love that it really does remove sunscreen - especially the sport versions that tend to stick to skin.

Broad spectrum sunscreen is the most important anti-aging product you can buy. That’s because sun damage accounts for 85% of the signs of skin aging. If you only use one skincare product, make it sunscreen. You’ll look younger longer.

I do love Guerlain’s Terracotta bronzer, YSL’s Rouge Volupte lipstick, Dior’s LipGlow, MAC Fix+, Clarins’ Double Serum. The best men’s shave cream I’ve ever found is called Moisture Shave by Kiss My Face. It’s incredible.

3-your in a product meeting what do you wear? "Outfit of the day" (picture if possible)

I always wear the same uniform. Slim black pants, black cole haan shoes, and a black shirt or navy gingham shirt. I worked in fashion for years and there is something about black that makes dressing easy. Donna Karan created this amazing wardrobe for men years ago that was all black with a little grey. You could mix and match everything. I like fashion that’s easy.

4-whats in your make-up bag for us ladies this summer?

colour, colour and more colour. Dior’s It Lash mascaras in pink and blue are so much fun. YSL’s blue eyeshadow palettes and nail lacquers are beautiful. And I loved Dior’s Fluid Sticks - one of the best new products of the year. Again, sunscreen is so important. Kiehl’s Super Fluid is the one I like best. Very light weight and effective.

5-top five luxury items at a music festival?

You’re going to laugh, but we don’t have big music festivals here in Canada like in Europe. There are a few in the United States. But Canada tends to get single concert events. No one puts on a show like Madonna. Her staging and costumes are incredible.

6-you have interviewed some rather famous faces!!
Is there any one you havent yet interviewed? /who would you like to interview?

I have been so fortunate to interview a lot of celebrities. I’m actually interviewing Alicia Keys next week in New York. What’s interesting about interviewing celebrities is it is always the people you least expect to be a good interview that turn out to be amazing. Oscar de la Renta and Anna Sui have the most interesting stories. Angelina Jolie would be fascinating. I love her charitable work.

7-what are you favorite products for July?

Marc Jacobs’ new Daisy Dream fragrance, Shiseido Ultimune, Jason Wu collection for Lancome, D&G Light Blue summer scents

8-top 5 summer fragrances

Bobbi Brown Beach, Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aqua Motu, Kenzo Flower in the Air, D&G Light Blue, Armani Aqua di Gioia

9-during the summer whats the best Skincare?

Be gentle with skin in summer. No toners or harsh scrubs. Cleanse a couple times a day and use an oil-free moisturizer and sunscreen. Be sure to use a lip product with spf as well.

10- have you ever been starstuck during an interview?

Halle Berry was a challenge. That’s because her publicist kept taking out approved questions as I drove to the interview. You usually have anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes for an interview so you have to get in as many questions as possible. Justin Timberlake is really nice but he pauses for a good 20 seconds before answering each question. It was hard to get him to answer more than a couple questions before my time was up

Harvey Browns

Harvey Browns           The Island's Deluxe Farmshop During the month of October we normally have a tradition of picking pumpkins at Arreton barns in farmer jacks farmshop, but they recently moved the pumpkins to Harvey Browns. it was our first time visiting since they opened and what a gorgeous place it was. The front entrance was full of a stunning line up of white and orange pumpkins and the place was booming. We had cake and coffee in the café. All their cakes are homemade and they have a selection of cakes that are gluten free and vegan. There's also a tantalising breakfast and lunch menu. they have an open kitchen area where you can see your food being prepped! How fancy ey!? The caramel latte was delicious, I must admit I'm a bit of a coffee snob...you'd definitely want to indulge and try it you won't regret it. As you leave the café you enter the famous farm shop itself, it's full of fresh meat, br
